Transportation

Here are some transportations to Da Lat:

  • Airplane: From Ha Noi/ Ho Chi Minh City/ Da Nang to Lien Khuong Airport, Da Lat. Recommended airlines: Vietnam Airlines and Vietjetair. The ticket price ranging from 90,000 VND to 1.600.000 VND. Estimated travel time: 50 minutes – 1 hour 40 minutes.
    • Notes: From Lien Khuong Airport, you can take a bus to the city center with only 50.000 VND, or you can travel by taxi but with a higher cost: 300.000 VND/ turn. The bus will operate 24/7 and the last stop in Da Lat is Le Thi Hong Gam Street, near Da Lat Market. You should consult with the driver about the address of your hotel so that you can drop off as near as possible.
  • Bus: Phuong Trang and Thanh Buoi, both firms have many tours from Sai Gon to Da Lat, about 230.000 VND/ seat. This is the one-way ticket. All the buses will operate continuously (the estimated waiting time for each trip is 30 minutes- 1 hour).

When you’re already in Da Lat, here are some transportation means recommended:

  • Motorbike: 80.000 – 120.000 VND/ day.
  • Tandem bicycle: 20.000 VND/ hour. To rent a bike, you need your identity card.
  • Car: Over 1.000.000 VND / day ( from 8:00 to 17:00). Overtime is 100.000 VND/ hour.
  • Bus: There are many bus routes from the main bus station in the city center to any communes, provinces of Da Lat, Lam Dong. The bus fare is 4.000- 30.000 VND/ person, depends on the routes and where you get off.

The symbol of Da Lat tourism, the ideal time to visit the lake is in the early morning or dusk. There are many leisure activities for you to enjoy: pedalo, canoe or enjoying the lake on a rubble boat.

Located at 2 Phu Dong Thien Vuong Street, 2 kilometers away from the city center. Tourist often visits the Flower Garden to admire and enjoy the beautiful flowers blooming year-round, as well as taking many lovely pictures.

Con Ga Cathedral

The magnificent cathedral of the city, also the biggest one in Da Lat. True to its name ( con ga- rooster), there is a statue of a rooster on top of the bell tower. The cathedral is one of the most ancient and architectural works of France people.

Domaine de Marie Cathedral

Also known as Mai Anh cathedral, located on Ngo Quyen Street, 1 kilometer to the south-west of the city center. The cathedral was designed in the style of Europe 17th century, with a harmonious combination of the Western architecture and the ethnic minorities of the Central Highlands.

Linh Phuoc Pagoda- Trai Mat

In Trai Mat, there are many interesting places to visit such as King Bao Dai villa, Trai Mat Market, especially Linh Phuoc Pagoda.

Aside from a unique terracotta mosaic architecture, the Pagoda has a dragon made from 12.000 bottles, thus granted it another name: Bottles Pagoda

Valley of Love

Suoi Vang Valley

From the city center, travel north to Lac Duong, then take a left turn at the 7 kilometers milestone of Tung Lam, go for another 12 kilometers to reach Suoi Vang Valley. However, the true beauty lies along the road, that is why you should carry food and blankets with you to go on picnic wherever you like.

Lang Biang Moutain

Located 12 kilometers to the north of the city center. When you reached the mountains, there are 2 choices for you: hiking or go by jeep. 1 jeep cost 180.000 VND / 6 person (if you go separately, each person costs 50.000 VND and must wait for 5 other people). It took only 15 minutes for the jeep to reach the top, but up to 1 hour and 30 minutes if you choose to hike. The road to the top is filled with pines and wildflower, but the view is absolutely breathtaking. You can also enjoy many grilled food here.

Cu Lan Village

The newest tourist site in Da Lat: A small, beautiful and romantic village lying deep within a thousand hectares of primary forest, right under Lang Biang Moutain, 9 kilometers away from The Golden Valley tourist site

The Southern Side of Da Lat center

Tuyen Lam Lake

Located at the average height about 1500 meters above the sea level, 5 kilometers to the South of Da Lat center, on the road to Prenn pass. Here you can rent a boat to reach the small island in the lake. One round- trip cost 200.000 VND, so it is better to rent together with other tourists to save cost. However, you can still travel on foot to the island by yourself. When you reached the island, you can enjoy the bush meat ( remember to carry a blanket with you) and immerse in the peaceful atmosphere of the lake. You can even rent a hammock to rest at a cost of  7.000 VND/ hour.

Truc Lam Monastery

Located on top of Phung Hoang mountain, above Tuyen Lam Lake, Truc Lam is the biggest monastery, as well as one of the most attractive tourist point in Da Lat. There is cable car service just opposite the monastery gate, which is the best way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the city and many pine forests (50.000 VND/ round-trip).

Prenn Falls

Located at the beginning of Prenn pass, on route 20 from Sai Gon to Da Lat, 10 kilometers to the South of Da Lat center. Come to Prenn falls to admire the epicness but peaceful of the falls, as well as many vast pine hills. In here you can enjoy the local specialty: snakehead pottery ( 160.000 VND – 200.000 VND/ 4 people).

Datanla Falls

From Route 20, take a turn down to a 300 meters steep to reach a small valley, where you can see Datanla Falls stands pristinely. The Falls attracts tourist with its pure clean water that flows through 7 layers of stone into many giant rocks, altogether to create a majestic sight to behold.

Further Areas

Cau Dat Tea Plantation

Famous for its tea fields and vast area of wild sunflowers blooming every end of the year. From the city center,  head straight toward Tran Hung Dao- Hung Vuong Street and follow the sign to Trai Mat, then ask the locals for the way to reach Xuan Truong village. Due to being located on the average height about 1650 meters above the sea level, the plantation has a cool atmosphere year- round, and is always open for free. So when you see the sign of Cau Dat factory, don’t hesitate to step in.

Voi Falls (Elephant Falls) – Linh An Pagoda

Located in Nam Ban town, Lam Ha province, 25 kilometers to the South- West of Da Lat city. Located beneath D’Ran pass, Don Duong province. D’Ran town is famous for its bright yellow wild sunflower and gardens of persimmon, along with the local specialty: grilled sausage.

Pongour Falls

Dambri Falls

Located at Dambri ecotourism destinations, 18 kilometers to the North- East of Bao Loc city, 100 kilometers away from Da Lat and 200 away kilometers from Ho Chi Minh city, following route 20. Dambri is the highest falls in Lam Dong: more than 40 meters.

Cuisine: Restaurants, snacks, and specialties

Visiting Da Lat is not just about sightseeing, but also about eating. Da Lat is also famous for its variety of cuisines and specialties, such as: red wine, stem wine, fruits (persimmon, avocado, peach, strawberry, mulberry,…), many types of jam, Bao Loc tea, artichoke tea, vegetables ( cabbage, spinach, broccoli, artichoke, carrot, potato, chayote,…)

The price of a chicken hotpot is about 200.000 VND with half a chicken, 1 plate of noodle, 1 plate of mushroom, some bamboo shoots and a special leaf called “é”.

Lau Bo Ba Toa (Ba Toa Beef hotpot)

The beef hotpot here is famous for its large, thick beef, not to mention the delicious tendon, tail, and the brisket point that make your stomach hunger for more. The price is very reasonable: 250.000 VND/ 4 person.

Recommended place: Ayun- Tam Nguyen restaurant, located on Ankroet Street, Cu Lan village. The owner is a J’rai married couple. Howeber, there is one rule: always pre-order before going to the restaurant, and show the owner the last 3 digits of your phone number (since the process of making bamboo-tube rice is long and complex). Banh Uot Long Ga (Steam thin rice pancake with chicken organs)

Banh Trang Nuong (Grilled Ricepaper)

A mixed grilled ricepaper cost is about 21.000 VND, filled with egg, cheese, pate, beef jerky (or sausage), mayonnaise sauce. Grill rice paper has a wonderful smell, while still engulfing in smoke, that make you want to enjoy it as soon as possible.

Nem Nuong (Grilled Sausage)

Grilled pork, served with fried rice paper, pickle and herbs. This dish has became popular in Da Lat. The main highlight is the special sauce made from liver, shrimp, and groundnut, which make the grilled sausage taste even more delicious.

Ma Rung Lu Quan

To reach this place, you must travel through many rocky roads, 25 kilometers away from Da Lat center, to the direction of Suoi Vang tourist site. Despite the difficultness , once you reach Ma Rung Lu Quan, you will be amazed by its beauty: lakes and trees, along with some wooden cottage, all fuse together into a mystical view, fascinate any tourist.

Located 3 kilometers away from the city center. There are 2 types of ticket: 30.000 VND and 150.000 VND (the latter includes all services: take pictures with the horses, dressed up as a king,…).

 

Valley of Love:

100.000 VND/ adult- 40.000 VND/ children ( This included entrance ticket, enjoy all the views of the valley on a tram and discover natural beauty with pedalo).

 

Cu Lan village:

  • Entrance tickets: 40.000 VND/ adult. Children under 1 meter accompanied by adults: free, above 1 meters: same as the adult ticket.
